Frequently asked questions
What does this product provide?
It combines ashwagandha root extract and vitamin B6 (1.4 mg, 100 % of the nutrient reference value) in the same serving. Vitamin B6 contributes to normal functioning of the nervous system. Vitamin B6 contributes to normal psychological function. Vitamin B6 contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Vitamin B6 contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism. Ashwagandha has no authorised health claim in the European Union: we tell you what it is and how much it contains, we don't promise you any effect with it.
What is ashwagandha and what does "5 % withanolides" mean?
Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is a plant whose root is used in India's Ayurvedic tradition. This product contains standardised root extract: 5 % of the extract is withanolides, the compounds used to measure its concentration. So the 1,200 mg of extract in the daily dose provides 60 mg of withanolides. An extract with no declared percentage doesn't tell you how much of those compounds it contains.
How much does it contain? Isn't that too much?
Per daily dose of 2 capsules: 1,200 mg of ashwagandha root extract (60 mg of withanolides) and 1.4 mg of vitamin B6. For ashwagandha there is no nutrient reference value or tolerable upper intake level set by EFSA, and the French food safety agency (ANSES, 2024) was unable to set a safe level of intake. That's why the reference is the dose on the label: do not exceed 2 capsules a day.
How and when should I take it? Morning or evening?
2 capsules a day with a large glass of water, preferably with a meal. The label doesn't set a specific time. ANSES advises against taking it if you are going to drive or operate machinery, because drowsiness has been reported in trials.
How long does it take to work?
As ashwagandha has no authorised health claim, we can't promise you an effect or a timeframe.
How long can I take it for?
The label doesn't set a maximum duration, and the safety of taking it continuously for a long time is not well studied. If you plan to take it for months, ask your doctor or pharmacist first. Rare cases of liver problems associated with ashwagandha supplements have been reported: if while taking it you notice anything that worries you (for example, yellowish skin or eyes, or very dark urine), stop taking it and see your doctor.
Can I take it with magnesium or other supplements?
This formula contains no magnesium and provides 1.4 mg of vitamin B6 a day. If you combine it with our magnesium bisglycinate with taurine and B6 (0.75 mg of vitamin B6 in its daily capsule), you get 2.15 mg of vitamin B6 a day, well below the 12 mg a day that EFSA sets as the tolerable upper intake level for adults (which also counts what you get from food). Our Focus Complex and Vista Complex also contain about 1.4 mg of vitamin B6 each, and a multivitamin contains its own: add those in too. Don't combine it with another product containing ashwagandha. And if you take other supplements or medicines that cause drowsiness (for example, melatonin), ask your doctor or pharmacist first.
What if I take medication?
Ask your doctor or pharmacist first, as they know your case, especially if you take thyroid hormone, sedatives or medicines that cause drowsiness, antidepressants, medication for diabetes or blood pressure, immunosuppressants or antiepileptics. We tell you exactly what it contains and in what amount: the composition per daily dose is on this same page, show it to them.
Who should not take it? Is it the same for women and men?
It is a product for adults only, with no different dose for women and men. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, don't take it; it is also not for under-18s. ANSES (2024) further recommends that ashwagandha supplements should not be taken by people with thyroid, liver or heart problems, or with hyperandrogenism (excess male hormones), or by those taking sedatives or other medicines that cause drowsiness. If that applies to you, you have any other condition or are about to have surgery, ask your doctor or pharmacist first.
What exactly does it contain? Is it suitable for vegans? Does it contain gluten?
Ashwagandha root extract (Withania somnifera) standardised to 5 % withanolides, vitamin B6 (pyridoxine hydrochloride) and a plant-based pullulan capsule; the full ingredients list, including excipients, is on the label. The product page and the label declare it suitable for vegans, gluten-free and allergen-free. If you have a diagnosed allergy or intolerance, check the ingredients list anyway.
How long does a pack last and how should I store it?
60 capsules: 30 days at 2 capsules a day. Store it in a cool, dry place protected from light, with the container tightly closed and out of the reach of children. Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
