What exactly does it contain?

This is the full composition, with no padding: nicotinamide riboside chloride (NRC) 200 mg, trans-resveratrol 98% 102.04 mg (from Polygonum cuspidatum, root), maize starch and magnesium stearate (E 470b) as bulking agent and anti-caking agent, gelatine capsule (animal origin). Each capsule, which is the daily dose, provides 172 mg of nicotinamide riboside and 100 mg of trans-resveratrol.

Does it contain allergens? Is it suitable for vegans?

It contains gelatine (animal origin), so it is not suitable for vegans. Check the full ingredient list if you have a diagnosed allergy or intolerance.

Nicotinamide riboside is authorised in the EU as a novel food, with a maximum of 300 mg of the chloride per day in food supplements: each capsule contains 200 mg, which is why the dose is one a day. The framework is in EFSA's novel food section; the authorising regulation, on EUR-Lex.

How to read this label, and anyone else's

Look at the daily dose, not the capsule. If a serving is two capsules, the big number on the front may be half of what you actually take. Here a serving is one capsule: what we state is what you take.

Ask for the extract percentage. “Resveratrol 200 mg” doesn't tell you how much active is inside. “Trans-resveratrol 98%” does.

Check the chemical form. Nicotinamide riboside comes as the chloride: 200 mg of salt provides 172 mg of active. We give both figures so you can check they add up.
